She spends time explaining what happens to a woman's body after child birth and guides you through a step by step process to healing. From using tinctures, to essential oils, to giving nourishing recipes, to self-care tips, she's got you covered.I love how she covers autoimmune thyroid and adrenal issues as well. Personally, I do not have any children, but I have struggled with my thyroid and adrenals for years, and I LOVED the valuable information and knowledge Dr. Brighten has shared. I have been working with Dr. Brighten for several months to help with my hormones, thyroid, and adrenals and I love her natural approach to healing.She is also a real food advocate and includes some wonderful food tips and recipes that I will be implementing and making, like her Turmeric Ginger Tea and a variety of yummy smoothies. Dr. Jolene's book is easy to read, informative and so, SO helpful to new moms. I am a certified postpartum doula and I recommend this book to my clients in hopes of getting them prepared prenatally for their postpartum period or back on a healthy path to recovery if their baby is already here. There is so much great information in this book, honestly. Some of my favorites are recipes for delicious smoothies, helpful herbal teas and soothing homemade self care foot baths, and also herbal mood lifters and body sprays to support new moms with the baby blues. It's hard to pick just one or two to make - I want to try them all! I must admit, I am drawn to the "lighter side" of postpartum full of mother's milk teas, warm slow cooker recipes and sitz baths, Dr. Jolene gives symptoms of hypothyroidism to watch out for, ways to support adrenal health and what labs to order. She also shares her own struggles and hurdles in figuring out she had Hashimoto's thyroiditis.I definitely suggest this book!

Wonderfully informative book. Every new mom or pregnant woman should read. Taking care of your body during and after pregnancy is so important and not enough focus is placed on how much your body changes and needs proper nutrition and healing. Thank you Dr. Brighten for writing this book. I wish I'd had it years ago after I had my first child. It would've saved me a lot of confusion when trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Why was I always so tired? Why did I feel depressed? Why was I gaining weight instead of losing? If you have any of these same questions, don't just ignore them...read the book and find solutions.

Having been part of my 2 children being born the insight from this book would have given me more options for taking better care of my wife. Men, it's time we become more involved in taking care of the Mother o our Children. Must read for all expecting Dad's.

Knowledge and support simply radiate from this book. Reading it felt more like a chat with a friend who not only knows how to take care of you, but wants you to be able to take care of yourself. Dr. Brighten answered questions I never thought to ask, but needed to know the answer to. I love that she speaks TO you, not at you. It's for sure my new go-to baby shower gift!

This is a quick easy read when breastfeeding in the first few weeks. She provides detailed information to help feeling better faster! Trust me I needed the help and as soon as I started listening to the advice in the book I really did start feeling better.
